CUSTOM MODULE TUTORIAL

I mentioned this many times already but I’ll mention it once again ;) - ACS3 is a general rigging platform and it’s possible to build many types of rigs with it (simple car rig is coming). There’s a dedicated rig development subcontext which provides a set of tools for developing your own modules. I plan to cover all these tools gradually as the system matures.

As a first step I’ve just added a tutorial in twelve parts that covers basics of building your own ACS3 module. The tutorial walks you over the process of building a simple insect-like leg. The leg includes all the necessary elements of a proper module: plug and socket connections, control rig, bind skeleton and a guide allowing for fitting the module to any character. At the end of the tutorial we assemble very basic Bug character rig.

The tutorial is accompanied with Start and Complete state scenes and is available from the Manual page (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Below you can watch the end result - assembling the rig using custom module built over the course of the tutorial.
